Full conversion from unusable shed to bespoke living area
Before and after
Transform an attached shed into a warm, usable room that felt like part of the house rather than a separate outbuilding.
Once the brief is agreed, we can handle sequencing, material ordering, access, structural items, roofing, internal works and final handover so the client gets one coordinated build from start to finish.
Asbestos roof removal, chimney removal, structural beam logistics, new roof structure, rooflights, window changes, screed preparation, framing, insulation, plasterboarding, plastering, electrics and final finishing.

Original roof before work began

Strip-out and demolition back to shell
Stage 2 | Demolition + Steel
A major part of the project involved removing the internal chimney breast and preparing for a new structural arrangement. A large steel beam was required to support the new roof build-up, which meant coordinated access, lifting equipment and accurate sequencing.

Strip-out and demolition preparing the shell

Plant brought in to assist with steel and structural works
With the steelwork and structural support strategy in place, the next step was rebuilding the roof properly. New timbers were installed and the geometry of the new roof was formed with openings built in for the two rooflights.

New timber roof structure taking shape

Decked roof with openings set out for rooflights
Once the structure was formed, the roof build-up progressed into membrane, covering and weatherproofing work. The new roof line, external shape and rooflight positions started to show the finished form of the conversion.

Roof covering works progressing during the build

Completed finished roof line and final external shell
Inside, the room was framed out and prepared as proper living accommodation rather than storage space. The internal structure was set for services, insulation, boarding and the final room layout, with the rooflights helping turn the room into a bright usable space.

Internal framing and preparation inside the room

Insulation and foil-faced thermal envelope installed
With the insulation and internal build-up completed, the room moved into boarding, plastering and final fit-out. By this stage the conversion had fully changed character from a rough shell into part of the house.

Plaster stage before final decoration

Completed room after finishing works

Completed room after flooring, heating and decoration

Rooflights bringing daylight into the finished room
The conversion created a bright, usable living area that feels integrated with the home rather than bolted on to it. The room now benefits from improved structure, insulation, daylight, heating and a cleaner finished appearance.
This was not a cosmetic tidy-up. It was a structurally demanding conversion that required careful sequencing, material coordination, steelwork, roof rebuild works and a proper finishing package before the room could become completed living space.
Why clients use us for this type of work
Once the brief is agreed, we can coordinate the build from start to finish - materials, access, structural items, trades, programme and final handover - so the client gets one completed space rather than a collection of half-finished stages.
Ideal for homeowners and property investors looking for:
